As we write, Kingsland h.Art is attracting record numbers of visitors to the Church, which played host to 32 of Herefordshire’s most talented artists.  We will report back on final sales figures (of which 25% commission goes to the Church fabric fund) in the October newsletter… so watch this space.

Arcadia Music Festival  5 – 8 October

SMAAAK’s live events programme continues with the Arcadia Music Festival in the lovely Churches of Leintwardine, Kingsland and Downton.

This year’s Festival,  A Very French Affair , features work by Debussy, Ravel, Saint Saëns, and the less well known Albert Roussel. It also has complementary works by Beethoven and Eleanor Alberga, as well as talks on French music by world authority Roger Nichols and harp by virtuoso Hugh Webb. The talks are hosted by Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan.

The Kingsland Arcadia programme on Saturday 7 October, 7.30pm in Kingsland Church is

Debussy: Syrinx for solo flute
Debussy: Sonata for flute, viola and harp
Alberga: String Quartet no 1 (1993)
Beethoven: String Quartet op 74 ‘The Harp’
Ravel: Introduction and Allegro for flute, clarinet, harp and string quartet
