Arcadia Festival 2016, 28th September to 2nd October

Founded by Wigmore-based violinist Thomas Bowes and composer and concert pianist Eleanor Alberga, the 7th Arcadia Music Festival makes a welcome return to Kingsland Church on Saturday 1 October as part of its tour, to help raise funds to restore the Church fabric.

This year’s theme ‘At Home and Abroad’, explores the experiences, emotions and creativity of composers who have travelled widely and those who have stayed at home, and features an extraordinary list of characters and their intriguing connections, including Byron, Napoleon and Francis II.

Here, Tom and Eleanor are joined by other international performers – Patrick Kiernan, violin; Louise Williams, viola; Sally Pendlebury. cello and Jeremy Williams, Welsh baritone and Reciter.

There is also a film tribute to William Walton in Leintwardine Community Centre and at Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan, arguably two of the UK’s finest current composers, Eleanor Alberga and Adam Gorb will discuss their work and explore the intriguing themes of the Festival.
