Latest SMAAAK News and Events – Pub Quiz!

Our thanks to all who attended a sparkling evening with Lord Lisvane brilliantly interviewed by Richard Hilliard.  Together with a generous donation from the sale of Lord Lisvane’s books, we raised over £440.

June kicks off with a fun and entertaining Pub Quiz for all ages with topics ranging from local history to music, celebrities and silly but very necessary trivia. Get a team together (no more than 4 please) and join us at the Corners Inn on Friday 3 June from 7pm. £1 per player. There will be prizes!

On Wednesday 22 June, we are delighted to welcome Historian Philip Hume to Kingsland Church. Philip will be giving an illustrated talk “On the Trail of the Mortimers” which beautifully interweaves  the history of the Mortimers of Wigmore with Kingsland and other locations that connect us to their lives. The talk starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.

The fantastic Pop Up Opera makes a welcome return, performing their witty take on Rossini’s Barber of Seville on Saturday 9 July at the Church, 7.30pm. Tickets at £25 and £10 for under 18s are on sale now.

Showcasing 19 talented artists across a wide range of media, our lovely Church will host one of Herefordshire Art Week’s largest Group Shows, from 10 – 18 September. This year, in addition to the Opening Event on Friday 9 September, we are planning an Evening Event on Friday 16th.  Watch this space for more details.

The final date for your diary is Saturday 1 October when the Church co-hosts the 7th Arcadia Music Festival featuring violinist Thomas Bowes, pianist/composer Eleanor Alberga and other exceptional instrumentalists. Ticket price tba.
