Nearby Avian Flu Outbreak – attention all bird/poultry keepers! Parts of the parish are now in a DEFRA Protection Zone and all is in a DEFRA Surveillance Zone.

Because of  an avian flu outbreak nearby some of the parish is now in a DEFRA Protection Zone and the rest of the parish is in a DEFRA avian bird flu Surveillance Zone. Please read the DEFRA guidance on what you should be doing. Any dead domestic or wild birds should immediately be reported to DEFRA.

“Premises near Leominster, North Herefordshire, Herefordshire

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in birds at a premises near Leominster, North Herefordshire, Herefordshire on the 2 December 2021. All birds on the infected premises will be humanely culled.

A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone has been put in place around the premises. Details of the measures that apply in these zones can be found in the declaration.
