News from SMAAAK

Our huge thanks to all who contributed to and visited ‘The Light’ art exhibition which closed on 13 December. Featuring over 150 works by 53 wonderful local artists, the show realised £9,500 of which 30 per cent goes towards the restoration of our beautiful Parish Church.

Our particular thanks go to those who so kindly gave their time and energy to make the show a success including Charles MacCarthy, Ruth Cameron Swan, Mary Stevens, Apple Nootenboom, Jackie and Bryan Markham, David Noon and the generous Kingslanders (and soon to be Kingslanders) who gamely helped steward namely Chris Gwilliam, Stephanie Scott and Sue Price.   Our warm thanks also to Rev Julie Read, the Church wardens and helpers who worked with and around us!

SMAAAK’s next live event is “The Mighty Prince and other Tales” performed by the brilliant Herefordshire-based Open Sky Company. An enchanting family show for ages 3+, it runs on Sunday 21 February from 2pm at the Coronation Hall. Tickets at £5 are available from Kingsland Post Office or T: 01568 709579 or www.artsalive.co.uk  A lovely New Year present for the children or grandchildren?

Finally, SMAAAK would like to wish everyone a very happy 2016. We look forward to seeing you at our future events.
