The Arcadia Music Festival, directed by Thomas Bowes and Eleanor Alberga was a highlight in early October with its programme of ravishing music by Dohnányi, Brahms and Spohr. The evening, part of the Arcadia Festival three day programme raised over £600 for the Church restoration.
We rush headlong into November (and coinciding neatly with the launch of the new James Bond film, Spectre) with Gavin Robinson’s “Bond. The unauthorised parody” at the Luctonians Sports Club on 6 November.
And from 28 November, we are proud to present a major themed exhibition ‘The Light’ in our beautiful Parish church. Curated by Kingsland based artist Charles MacCarthy, the show will feature works by over 50 professional local artists across a variety of media including painting, sculpture and prints as well as stained glass, light boxes and light projections.
Featured artists include Wally Gilbert, Ken Eastman, Mike Clements, Stella Hidden, Allen Fisher, Megan Ellis, Susie Cawley, Julienne Braham, Dan McCarthy, Alison McGregor Grimley, Jane Tudge, Nicky Hopwood, Maggie Jones, Robert Wood and David England.
In the darkest time of the year, ‘The Light’ runs from Saturday 28 November until Sunday 13 December. Open daily from 10am until 4pm. Free entry.
If you would like to volunteer as a Steward during the Show, please contact Dee or Jim on T: 01568 709579. It’s a great opportunity to meet the participating artists as well as visitors and enthusiasts from near and far!
